How often should I pop in for a check-up and clean?
We know you love coming to Mint*d but you only need to visit us every six months. This gives us the chance to monitor your teeth for any issues and give them a fresh sparkle. What’s not to love about that?
Should I be worried about fluoride?
IIn the small doses we use: no. In controlled amounts, fluoride does an awesome job of repairing and protecting teeth against dental decay.
Why do my gums bleed?
Don’t put this one in the 'deal-with-later basket'. Bleeding gums may be a sign of gum inflammation caused by a build-up of plaque and bacteria. Pop in and see your friendly Mint*d smile crew – we’ll get to the bottom of it.
Why are my teeth stained?
The usual suspects are coffee, red wine and tobacco, but acid wear or trauma to teeth can also be at fault. The good news is that we can help.
Will a teeth clean help whiten my teeth?
It can! If your teeth are stained, a clean can help brighten your teeth by removing some surface stains and plaque build-up.
How does teeth whitening work?
First up, see one of our smile crew to suss out whether your teeth will respond to whitening and whether it’s right for you, then we’ll get onto your treatment. A protective gel will be applied to your gums followed by a teeth whitening solution. We use a special bright light by GLO Science to activate the solution, lifting stains and brightening your teeth.
If professional teeth whitening isn’t your jam, we have at-home teeth whitening kits so you can DIY. Too easy!
How long does teeth whitening last?
It can last for months, but the results will be different for everyone because everyone’s pearly whites are unique. And we’ll teach you how to make it last longer.
What do you use for teeth whitening?
Hydrogen peroxide is the main ingredient in our teeth whitening solutions. As dentists, we’re legally allowed to use a 30% hydrogen peroxide solution, which is stronger than you’ll get from non-dental providers. Our take-home kits are 6% hydrogen peroxide, BTW.
What is the best toothbrush and toothpaste for me?
For toothbrushes, go electric or a soft-bristled manual one with a small head. As far as toothpaste goes, make sure it contains fluoride (a minimum of 1000ppm fluoride concentration, if you want to get technical).
How do I know if I have a cavity?
That’s what we’re here for! Regular check-ups every six months mean our smile crew will spot problems before they become total-freak-out problems. But if there’s anything you’re concerned about, drop in anytime.
Why does my breath smell?
Ugh, this is the worst. It could be a dental issue or some other health concern. Your Mint*d smile crew can help you figure out what’s going on and rectify it ASAP.
I have missing teeth. What can I do?
From implants to dentures and bridges, we can transform your smile – that’s the sort of magic we do on the regular. Come in and chat to the smile crew about your options… what have you got to lose?
I think my wisdom teeth are coming through. Do they need to be extracted?
Not necessarily. If they’re causing (or could cause) damage to teeth and gums, your dentist may give them a notice of eviction. The only way to know for sure, though, is to have the smile crew check them out.
Does a teeth clean hurt?
Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! Our special technology can reduce anxiety and pain while we remove plaque from teeth and do that awesome teeth polishing thing we do. Ask our smile crew about EMS airflow – a sweet invention that can make your teeth clean more comfortable.
Do you do fillings?
Yes, we offer all types of general dentistry here. We also have oral health therapists with what’s called 'extended scope', which means they can complete most simple restorative treatments like fillings as well.
How much do clear aligners cost?
Well, it kinda depends on your teeth and how major the adjustments you want to achieve are. As a ballpark, clear aligners cost between $2,500 and $8,500. For a more accurate picture, you’re best to chat to the Mint*d smile crew.
What’s different about Mint*d vs a traditional dentist?
We are a full service general dental practice, just set up differently so we can pass cost savings on to you. Think of it as affordable dentistry, good for your teeth and even better for your pocket. Who wouldn’t love that?!
Will I still have to see another dentist even if I go to Mint*d?
If a dentist is required, we will refer you to our in-house dentist (don’t worry – they are just as lovely as the rest of the Mint*d team, promise).
What will happen on my first appointment?
No matter which treatment you choose from our menu you’ll be seen by one of our awesome dental hygienists or oral health therapists first. They will perform your treatment and providing some advice on next best dental steps for you.
Do you offer all the same services a 'normal' dentist would offer?
Absolutely! We have qualified dental clinicians including hygienists, oral health therapists and dentists. If you need specialist work (such as surgical extractions, for example) we’ll refer you to someone who can help.
